Amazon Echo: New speakers on sale, Show 16 delayed to December

Amazon released its updated Echo hardware lineup on Tuesday, October 28, 2026. The rollout includes new speakers, a bedside clock, and a smart photo frame, but it excludes the company's largest smart display.

The company shifted its release strategy away from single annual events. It now launches individual products to give each device more attention. Only the Echo Show 16 remains unlaunched from this specific group.

The Echo Show 16 is scheduled for release on December 16, 2026. Customers can place preorders immediately and receive a $100 discount on the device price. Amazon describes the unit as its most powerful smart display to date. It features eight woofers and two tweeters. The stand and screen support VESA mounting, and buyers can select a nanomatte screen option.

The updated Echo Dot includes 50% more bass than the previous model. It features faster on-device processing for Alexa Plus interactions. The speaker adds a third microphone to capture voices across a room. A new feature called Omnisense combines temperature and presence sensing to control smart home devices.

The Echo Studio with Home Camera adds a physical camera and Alexa Plus to the existing speaker design. Amazon plans to enable pairing with Fire TV devices after launch. This connection will allow video calls to display on larger television screens.

The Echo Time is a bedside alarm clock without a camera. It uses ultrasound technology to detect sleep stages. The device can run smart alarms that gently wake users, a feature that remains optional for owners.

The Alexa Photo Frame features a 10-inch anti-glare touchscreen. It runs the Alexa assistant and functions as a smart speaker. The frame integrates with Amazon Photos, which provides unlimited storage for Prime members.
