A 23-year-old man from Givatayim was arrested on Saturday night after police said he shoved a bodyguard assigned to former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. The incident occurred at a rally in Tel Aviv where Bennett advocated for a commission of inquiry into the events of October 7.
Witnesses reported that the suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, shouted the slogan “Only Bibi” while attempting to breach the security perimeter. Guards instructed him to step back, but the man continued to push toward Bennett and his staff.
After one guard physically pushed the suspect away, the man turned and shoved the officer in return. Security personnel subdued the individual and held him at the scene until police arrived. Officers took the suspect to a local station for questioning.
Bennett, who served as prime minister from June 2021 to June 2022, led the B'Yachad party during the event. The gathering focused on demanding an independent investigation into the failures that preceded the October 7 massacre.
Preliminary checks revealed that the suspect had no prior criminal record. Investigators are currently reviewing the details of the confrontation. The arrest took place just days before the 2026 Knesset elections, with military personnel having already cast ballots at polling stations earlier that week.
