Sam Fender has lowered the highest price for standing tickets at Wembley to 98.85 pounds. The 32 year old musician made the change following online criticism of the initial pricing structure for his Proper Massive tour. He announced the tour earlier this week, but fans quickly pointed out the high costs on social media.

The controversy began when Instagram user Gavin Davis posted details of the Wembley ticket options. The list showed a large difference between zones. Front standing tickets cost 130.75 pounds, while standard standing tickets were 98.85 pounds. Seated options ranged from 64.75 pounds to 130.75 pounds. Many followers felt the gap was too wide for a pop rock show.

Fender replied directly to the post to address the issue. He said he was not happy with the original numbers. The singer explained that the prices had gone higher than he intended. He stated that any price increase should only cover the real costs of staging the show. He did not want ticketing partners to add an extra profit margin.

The artist also criticized the split of standing areas into front and back sections. He called the practice bollocks and confirmed it would not be used for his tour. Fender said he was confused about how that system became standard in live music. He promised it would not be part of his event structure.

High prices were not just a problem in London. Ticket listings for other tour cities also showed standing tickets over 100 pounds. In Newcastle, the top price was 112.90 pounds. Cardiff listed top tickets at 119 pounds. Manchester had a top price of 119.60 pounds. Edinburgh had the highest price in the UK lineup at 120.95 pounds.

General ticket sales start on Friday. A presale opens on Wednesday morning. The tour will run across the summer of 2027. Fender will perform at several major stadiums. These include St James’s Park in Newcastle, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Marley Park in Dublin, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Fender is one of many artists challenging live music costs. In August, Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson shared similar views on TikTok. She agreed with fans that her Bangkok show tickets were very expensive. She said she wanted more control over the pricing process. Larsson noted that high costs kept many people from attending her shows.

Earlier this week, Fender confirmed a fourth studio album is in the works. He has not released a title or cover art yet. The new project follows his 2025 album People Watching, which won a Mercury prize. Fender has won five Brit awards during his career. His duet with Olivia Dean, Rein Me In, won the 2026 Brit award for song of the year. That song spent 23 weeks at number one, making it the longest running number one single in British history.
