Tesla reveals the futuristic dash inside its new Roadster

A new video shows the fighter jet inspired screens and thruster controls coming to the high speed electric car.

Tesla has released the most detailed look yet at the interior of its upcoming next generation Roadster. The company shared a thirty four second video on X on Friday afternoon, providing a clear view of the digital cockpit.

The footage is captioned with a statement that the interface is inspired by fighter jet cockpits and designed around the pilot. It opens with a black screen featuring red graphics and a three dimensional wireframe of the vehicle. This model sits next to the car's squared off yoke. Tapping various parts of the digital model brings up specific controls.

Drivers can see options for the rear wing, including settings for low drag and high downforce. A charging page is also visible, showing a charge limit bar and a small music player. A row of tabs along the bottom of the screen includes Home, Vehicle, Listen, Climate, and Navigate.

The majority of the video focuses on the Track Mode display. The dashboard presents a live circuit map and a list of session lap times. It also shows brake and motor temperatures, along with pressure and temperature readouts for each tire. A setup page allows the driver to select from Auto, Low Drag, High Downforce, or Custom aero modes.

Drivers can adjust aero balance and brake balance in this mode. They can also switch stability and traction control off. Along the bottom of the screen, a status bar displays the text Thruster and 5,500 PSI next to a Boost Ready indicator. This software feature connects directly to the hardware Tesla showcased near Waco, Texas, on October 15.

The Thrust and Rocket versions of the car use cold gas thrusters fed by carbon overwrapped pressure vessels. Tesla lists 0 to 60 mph times of under 0.9 seconds for the Thrust model and under 0.59 seconds for the Rocket model. The base Performance car relies on a fan and ground sealing system for grip. The aero settings shown on the screen match the active wings and suction setup used for downforce.

This layout is a significant departure from the rest of the Tesla lineup. Instead of a map centered screen, the Roadster places the car itself at the center of the home page. The company's website lists two smaller forward displays alongside the main touchscreen. Tesla has not confirmed if any of this Track Mode telemetry will appear in the Model 3 Performance or other vehicles.

The interface may still change before deliveries begin. Elon Musk stated that Roadster production will start in 2028. The flagship Rocket version is not currently approved for public road use. Reservations are open with a payment of $50,000. The Thrust version is listed as a limited release, while the Rocket is invite only.

Enthusiasts can see the car in person starting this weekend. The Roadster will be displayed in the lobby of the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles from October 24 to October 27. According to Sawyer Merritt, this is the first time the public will be able to view the vehicle up close.
