Voters in Florida will see President Donald Trump in Daytona Beach this Friday as he continues his final push before the midterms. The visit centers on a competitive governor's race where Republican Byron Donalds faces David Jolly. Donalds is currently favored to win, but polling indicates the contest is close enough to remain competitive.

This campaign differs from the 2022 election when Governor Ron DeSantis secured reelection by nearly 20 points. The current dynamic involves Jolly, a former Republican Congressman, running as the Democratic candidate after switching parties.

Trump is also scheduled to support Republican incumbents seeking reelection to Congress. Senator Ashley Moody is one such candidate. She is running in a special election to retain her seat for another two years against State Representative Angie Nixon. DeSantis appointed Moody to the Senate in 2025 following Marco Rubio's departure to become Secretary of State.

The President is expected to stump for House members as well. Rep. Randy Fine, a freshman from Daytona Beach, represents one of the districts Trump will visit. Fine was sworn in April 2025 after winning a special election to replace Mike Waltz, who now serves as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Florida recently redrew its congressional map ahead of these elections. Republicans currently hold 20 of the state's 28 House seats. The new district lines may allow that number to increase in the coming weeks.

The schedule for the final stretch of the campaign includes this Friday stop in Florida. No other dates have been announced for the immediate period following this visit.
