The Ransburg YMCA property in Indianapolis is now on the open market.
The listing price stands at $3.25 million. This figure applies to the nearly 54,000-square-foot building and the 8.9-acre campus at 501 N. Shortridge Road. The location sits southeast of the 10th Street and North Shortridge Road intersection.
Premier Commercial Real Estate Services is managing the sale. Melissa Blackwell, an assistant vice president at the firm, described the physical assets. The facility includes two basketball courts, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, multiple offices, and classrooms.
The organization closed its doors in March due to financial challenges. Vanessa Stiles, a former volunteer and board member for 14 years, noted the immediate impact on the neighborhood. She said the closure removed a community center, food pantry, early learning center, and fitness facility from the area.
The YMCA issued a statement regarding the sale. The organization stated that it remains open to a range of possibilities for the property. It expressed hope that the next use will be a positive addition to the community.
Blackwell said the firm has submitted potential buyers to the YMCA. The organization's committee is currently reviewing those offers. The team continues to show the property to interested parties. Blackwell added that there is no specific sale deadline.
Stiles expressed concern that the asking price might be high for some organizations. She noted that the YMCA indicated it no longer wants to be part of the east side of Indianapolis. She hopes the building does not remain vacant and cited opportunities for its use.
