The Indianapolis Colts will keep Daniel Jones at the helm despite a recent surge in turnovers. Head coach Shane Steichen confirmed on Monday that Jones will remain the starting quarterback for the team's upcoming contest.
Jones has thrown for 1,542 yards, five touchdowns, and nine interceptions this season. His 12 total turnovers tie him with Justin Herbert for the most in the National Football League. The streak of poor play continued on Sunday when the Colts lost 42-7 to the Jaguars.
In that game, Jones completed passes for 144 yards and one touchdown while throwing two interceptions. Steichen said he reviewed the footage and identified specific areas for improvement, noting that one interception resulted from a dropped ball and the other from an underthrown pass.
The coach stated that Jones makes good decisions and offers the team the best chance to win right now. Steichen said the coaching staff will help Jones improve moving forward but will not change the starting lineup immediately.
The Colts, currently 2-6, will attempt to end their four-game losing streak on Sunday. They will host the 3-5 Dallas Cowboys at home. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
