Denice Greer, the homeowner, stated that a dragging sound alerted her to the activity. She ran to her door and observed a person placing the doll into a large red Dodge RAM pickup truck. Greer reported the theft to authorities and noted that this was the first time in nearly two decades she had lived at the property that her outdoor display had been violated.

Greer has maintained a seasonal display for almost 20 years. The decorations serve as a gathering point for neighborhood children and adults. She described the area as close-knit, with residents frequently stopping to thank her for the effort. The display has become a sensory destination for local children, including those who are blind or deaf, who visit to touch the props.

One neighbor told Greer that her autistic son enjoys the display so much that the family drives past the house daily. Greer said these interactions provide a primary motivation for continuing the tradition. She emphasized that the decorations are intended for community enjoyment rather than personal display.
