Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Monday, Nov. 2, that he has positive news regarding linebacker Jack Campbell. The update came one day after the Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings and a night after Campbell visited the player in the hospital.

Campbell spoke with Jack’s parents and wife during the Sunday night visit. The coach said the family is in good spirits and focused on the recovery process. He noted that the news is positive but declined to share specific medical details.

"It’s positive, you know, so your prayers are working. Please continue to do that," Campbell said. "But it is positive news on Jack."

The injury occurred during the second half of Sunday's 19-15 victory at Ford Field. Campbell tackled former Lions tight end T.J. Hockenson and remained on the turf for several minutes. Medical staff moved him to the sideline on a medical cart while he was strapped to a board.

Staff transported the linebacker to the hospital for evaluation. He remained there as of Sunday night. The team has described the situation as a small setback while the player continues his recovery.

Campbell emphasized the difficulty players and coaches face when watching a teammate stay down on the field. He noted that Jack Campbell rarely remains on the grass after a play, which added to the concern.

"It’s difficult, you know, it is difficult," Campbell said. "You don’t ever want to see somebody like that on the field."

The coach praised Campbell's character and leadership within the locker room. He described the linebacker as trustworthy and dependable, noting that he gives everything to his teammates.

"He’s a guy that, you know, he’s trustworthy. He is dependable. You know, he gives you the shirt off his back," Campbell said. "He’s just all heart, man, all effort."

Campbell added that every member of the team respects and cares about the injured player. He also highlighted Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell for checking on Campbell after the injury. O’Connell and members of the Minnesota organization offered prayers and showed concern.

"This league is highly competitive, but it is a brotherhood," Campbell said. The gesture reminded the team that players and coaches have lives beyond football.

The Lions regrouped after the injury to finish their win against an previously unbeaten Minnesota team. The head coach did not provide a timeline for Campbell's return. The team continues to monitor his recovery at the hospital.
