Jalen Hurts will not play for the rest of the 2026 season, forcing the Philadelphia Eagles to insert rookie Tanner McKee at quarterback for their Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles (2-4) host the Cowboys (2-4) on October 26 in a Week 7 matchup that concludes the regular season slate for the division. Hurts suffered a blood clot in his calf, a diagnosis that ends his campaign early and shifts the offensive leadership to McKee, who made his debut last week.

The Eagles have lost four consecutive games after winning their first two. Their offense averaged 14.5 points per game during this losing streak. McKee threw for 215 yards in the 25-14 defeat against the Carolina Panthers last week. The ground game has been particularly weak, with the Eagles rushing for only 35 yards in that contest. The offensive line has been decimated by injuries, retirements, and trades, limiting the effectiveness of the running back corps.

Saquon Barkley is expected to return to the lineup after missing two games with a hamstring injury. His presence is critical because Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley are currently on injured reserve. Barkley’s return provides the Eagles with a primary playmaker in the backfield. However, the Eagles must contend with a Dallas defense that allows the third-most yards in the league, averaging 382.5 yards per game.

Dallas maintains one of the more productive offenses in the National Football League. Dak Prescott has completed for 1,639 passing yards, ranking fourth in the league, and has thrown 10 touchdowns. He also has five interceptions, two of which occurred in last week's 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens have combined for 81 receptions and 1,005 yards. The Cowboys average more than 25 points per contest, creating a high-scoring threat for the Eagles.

Both teams struggle to contain the opposition on defense. The Eagles rank 27th in the league, allowing 363.8 yards per game. Combined, the two teams allow just over 49 points per game. This defensive vulnerability suggests a potentially high-scoring affair, though the Eagles' offensive struggles may keep the total down. The SportsLine model simulates fewer than 44.5 total points in 54% of scenarios.

On the prediction market Kalshi, shares for a Dallas victory are priced at $0.66, reflecting a 62% probability in SportsLine simulations. A trade for fewer than 44.5 combined points is available at $0.51, while the opposite outcome, 45 or more points, trades at $0.50. These prices reflect the current perception of team performance and injury impacts heading into the Monday night contest.

The Eagles enter the game with a roster missing key contributors. Hurts' absence removes the team's veteran signal caller, while the offensive line continues to deal with depth issues. The Cowboys arrive with a balanced attack that has moved the ball effectively despite recent defensive lapses. The game will determine whether the Eagles can find a stop in their losing streak or if the Cowboys' offense will dominate the statistical edge.
