A 13-year-old student from Bordentown Regional Middle School died on Sunday morning following a collision on U.S. Route 130. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon in the 500 block of the highway, a stretch of road near a QuickChek convenience store where officials noted a high volume of pedestrian and scooter traffic.

Bordentown Township authorities reported that two electric scooters lay on the ground near a crosswalk at the scene. Several cars remained stopped in the intersection, and a black pickup truck with visible front-end damage was present. Police, firefighters, and emergency medical teams attended the scene to treat the girl before she was transported by air to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

The girl was pronounced dead on Sunday. Township officials issued a statement describing the loss of a young community member with deep sadness. They extended their condolences to her family, friends, and the first responders who provided immediate care.

"Our entire community is heartbroken, including the first responders who cared for her. We are holding her family, friends, and classmates close in our thoughts as they grieve," the officials wrote.

Abby Beckner, a neighbor who lives near the intersection, observed the events unfold from her window. She noted that electric scooters are a common sight on that roadway. Beckner said the sound of screaming alerted her to the incident.

"I looked out my window and people were stopping in the middle of the intersection," Beckner said.
