The University of Wisconsin women's tennis team won both matches of a doubleheader on Saturday, improving its season record to 6-0. The Badgers defeated Bradley in the first match and then beat Green Bay, scoring a 7-0 victory in each contest.

The result marks the best start to a season for Wisconsin since 1992. Green Bay fielded only five players in the second match, a short-handed lineup that limited its ability to compete against the Badgers.

Wisconsin established its lead in doubles play. Freshman MaryAnn Rompf and senior Kelsey Grambeau defeated Theresa Tebon and Tallie Piaskowski with a 6-1 score. Later in the doubles rotation, sophomore Melissa Pick and freshman Lexi Keberle won 6-0 over Maria Neff and Samm Pedersen.

No Wisconsin player dropped a set in singles. Keberle, playing at first singles, beat Tebon 6-1 and 6-1. She now holds a 7-0 record across both singles and doubles events. Rompf won the second singles match against Piaskowski, 6-3 and 6-1.

Michelle Linden won at third singles against Sterre Tijssens, 6-1 and 6-0. Pick completed a shutout of Neff, 6-0 and 6-0. Christina Zordani finished the sweep by beating Pedersen 6-0 and 6-1, extending her personal singles record to 5-0 this season.

Head coach Kelcy McKenna attributed the win to the team's focus on effort and attitude. She noted that the group must continue managing details in daily drills and match simulations to prepare for the upcoming National Team Indoor Championship.

McKenna identified doubles serves and returns as areas for improvement. She stated the team needs to be more aggressive on service plays and must carry momentum from doubles points into singles without giving away free points.
