A 17-year-old girl died after her car failed to stop at a stop sign, leading to a multi-vehicle collision in Vermillion Township, Ohio, on Saturday evening. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrived at the intersection of US 30 and State Route 511 at approximately 7:13 p.m.

The teen was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra southbound on State Route 511 when she entered the intersection without stopping. Her vehicle struck a 2013 Jeep Wrangler driven by Maximus Davis, a 25-year-old from Jeromesville, who was traveling westbound on US 30. Both cars crossed the median and stopped in the eastbound lanes.

James Cavera, 19, of Bowling Green, was driving a 2006 Acura TL eastbound when he hit the Jeep. The Acura left the roadway, and two other vehicles collided with debris scattered in the road. All drivers and passengers involved reported wearing seatbelts.

The teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries. Davis was initially taken to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital before being flown to Grant Medical Center, where he also has serious injuries.

Cavera was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital with serious injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation, which includes support from the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and several local fire and EMS departments. Officials stated that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.
